labia correction
WHAT IS A LABIA CORRECTION?
A labia correction is a correction of the shape or size of the labia.
A commonly requested procedure is labia reduction, which reduces the size of the labia minora (inner lips).
Other treatment options can be discussed with the plastic surgeon.
REASONS PATIENTS WANT A LABIA REDUCTION
Women opt for surgery for a variety of aesthetic and/or functional reasons, including:
- pain, discomfort or embarrassment from twisting and tugging of the labia when riding a bike, doing sports or during sexual intercourse,
- itching and irritation.
WHAT DOES A LABIA REDUCTION DO
The goal of the procedure is to reduce the labia minora so that they don't hang below the labia majora.
A labiaplasty may be performed to reduce assymetry when one is longer than the other, or, more commonly, to reduce the length of both labia so that the labia no longer twist, tug or fall out of a bathing suit.
LABIAPLASTY PROCEDURE
- Preferably a so-called zigzag scar or W-plastic is used (less pull on the final scar).
- This is in contrast to a linear scar that contracts during healing and may cause discomfort.
- Anaesthesia: A labia reduction is mostly done in day surgery under sedation with local anaesthesia. However, general anaesthesia is also possible.
AFTER THE SURGERY
- After surgery there can be swelling of the labia and some blood loss.
- The labia are full of blood vessels, which also quickly results in bruising.
- The wound is closed with resorbable sutures.
- The first days can be sensitive and painful.
how much does a labia correction cost?
- € 1.750 (inclusive Sedation and local anaesthesia)
- General anaesthesia (by anaesthesiologist)= + € 500 (1h)
