1. What is Mia Femtech™?
Mia (short for “Minimal Invasive Augmentation“) Femtech™ is an innovative, minimally invasive breast augmentation procedure for women who wish to enhance their breasts in a subtle, natural, and harmonious way. Together with Preservé™, it belongs to the newest generation of breast augmentations without traditional surgery.
With Mia Femtech™, the breasts can typically be enlarged by one to two cup sizes, for example from an A cup to a B or C cup. The result remains discreet, natural-looking, and beautifully proportioned to the body.
Unlike a traditional breast augmentation, the procedure takes only about 15 minutes and is performed without general anesthesia.
The soft Motiva Diamond® implant is inserted through a small incision in the armpit, leaving no visible scar on the breast. Thanks to specially developed Mia Femtech™ instruments, there is no need to cut through breast tissue, muscles, or ligaments, allowing these structures to remain intact (“breast tissue preservation”).
Because the technique is minimally invasive and tissue-preserving, women generally experience less pain, less tightness, and a faster recovery compared to traditional breast augmentation.

Mia Femtech™ may not be a suitable procedure in the following situations:
- You have previously undergone breast augmentation with implants.
- You are looking for a significant increase in breast volume.
- You have pronounced breast sagging.

Mia® is also not performed during or within 6 months after breastfeeding.
6. How does a Mia Femtech™ breast harmonisation procedure work?
Your Mia Femtech™ breast harmonization – in just 3 steps
Step 1: Incision in the armpit
The surgeon makes a small incision of approximately 2 cm in the armpit.
As a result, there is no scar on the breast itself. Breast augmentation through the armpit has been performed for many years, but the major difference with the Mia Femtech™ technique is that the incision is much smaller and that no further cutting is performed within the tissue. Thanks to the specially developed Mia® instruments, the procedure can be performed with greater precision and control than a conventional breast augmentation through the armpit.
Step 2: Creating the pocket
With the help of the Channel Separator and the Inflatable Balloon,
the surgeon carefully creates a pocket (a space between the breast gland and the chest muscle) where the breast implant will be placed.
Step 3: Injecting the implant
Using the special Mia® injector, the breast implant is injected into the pocket through a fine tube.
7. The Mia Femtech™ instruments
Motiva® Channel Separator
- for creating a tunnel (passage) through the smallest possible incision
Using the single-use dissector instrument (Channel Separator), the surgeon gently creates a passage or tunnel through the very small incision (approximately 2 cm) in the armpit. This tunnel allows the small inflatable balloon (Inflatable Balloon) to be inserted. The blunt tip of the Channel Separator gently pushes the tissues aside (using a circular rotating motion) without cutting or damaging them. The breast gland and muscle remain intact, which helps reduce pain and discomfort after the procedure, while providing better implant stability (nesting) and support.
Motiva® Inflatable Balloon
- for creating a pocket without damaging the breast tissue and with additional support
Next, another single-use instrument is inserted through the created tunnel: the Inflatable Balloon. By gradually inflating this balloon, the breast pocket (the space for the implant) is carefully formed. The breast tissue is gently moved aside and the ligaments are stretched rather than cut. With this technique, the natural breast tissue is preserved as much as possible, resulting in less pain, faster recovery, and fewer complications. At the same time, the supporting breast ligaments and muscles are gently tensioned, enhancing the stability and support of the implant.
Mia® Injector
- for injecting or placing the implant
The Mia® Injector is an innovative device that uses a compressed-air system, making it possible to insert the flexible Diamond® breast implant through a fine tube in just a few seconds and without pain.
Thanks to this technique, a small incision of only 2 to 3 cm in the armpit is sufficient. The implant is inserted painlessly in front of the breast muscle and behind the breast gland, resulting in the most natural-looking outcome, while still providing adequate support (“nesting”).
8. The Diamond® breast implant

For the Mia Femtech™ technique, the latest-generation Diamond®-implants are used: the first injectable biocompatible implants featuring an innovative diamond-shaped design.
The Diamond® implants represent the newest generation of breast implants and build upon the technology of the popular Motiva Ergonomix2 JOY® implants.
Like their predecessor, these implants are extremely soft and flexible thanks to their high-quality silicone gel, which even more closely mimics the feel and appearance of natural breast tissue.
Thanks to their innovative diamond-shaped design, Diamond® implants offer several additional advantages:
- More projection and volume without requiring a larger implant.
- A natural appearance, whether standing, lying down, or in motion.
- Improved stability within the breast.

Almost 2 weeks ago, I underwent a Preservé breast lift and augmentation performed by Dr. Nelissen (after 2 pregnancies and breastfeeding). From the consultation to the surgery and follow-up, I have nothing but praise for the entire team at GCC!
