1. What is the Preservé breast augmentation technique?
The Preservé method is a revolutionary and women-friendly breast augmentation technique, first applied in Belgium by Dr. Nelissen at the Global Care Clinic. It is minimally invasive and performed through the smallest possible incision of 2.5 cm in the natural fold of the breast.
This technique focuses on tissue preservation of the breast, maintaining its intrinsic structure and function.
Click here for further information on what the Preservé technique is.
2. What makes the Preservé technique unique?
- Faster and more comfortable (less pain) recovery: minimal downtime and quick return to daily activities
- Smaller scars: discreet 2.5 cm* scar, hidden in the natural breast fold
- Soft lightweight breast implant with a tissue-identical filling for a natural feel
- Optimal tissue preservation, without trauma or damage (incision) to the breast tissue and (supporting) breast muscles
- A naturally looking and feeling result: a harmonious breast augmentation that fits your body
- Longer-lasting results (improved stability)
- Retention of breast functions: nipple sensation and glandular function (breastfeeding)
- So-called ‘no-touch’ method: safer and less risk of infection
*depending on the size of the implant
3. Who is a good candidate for a Preservé breast augmentation?
Women who want a natural and harmonious breast augmentation, minimal scarring, quick recovery without sick leave, and a low risk of complications.
Click here for more information about who may be a good candidate for a Preservé breast augmentation.
4. What are the benefits of the Preservé breast augmentation technique?
- Less pain and discomfort after the procedure
- Faster recovery without sick leave and social disruption
- Quicker return to sports
- Minimal scars: +/- 2.5 cm* in the fold under the breast (*depending on the chosen implant size)
- Lower risk of loss of sensation in the nipples
- More stability and support for the implant: the pocket is more precisely and tightly formed, allowing the implant to stay in place better and less likely to sag
- More natural result: with the soft Motiva Ergonomix2® Joy ‘designer’ implants, which feel and resemble a real breast the most
- Smallest possible risk of infection and capsular contracture
- 5-year warranty against all breast implant-related complications
5. Can I still breastfeed after Preservé breast augmentation?
Yes, you can still breastfeed after a Preservé™ breast augmentation because it is a minimally invasive procedure. Thanks to the mini-incision, no-touch technique, and respect for breast tissue and milk glands, the milk ducts and glands are preserved as much as possible.
Always consult with your plastic surgeon about your breastfeeding preferences.
6. Why does the Preservé method leave a smaller scar than a traditional breast augmentation?
With the Preservé™ method, the scar is only about 2.5 cm, depending on the size of the implant. In a classic breast augmentation, the incision can sometimes be 4 cm or longer, depending on the size and brand of the implant.
This difference is due to the fact that with the Preservé™ technique, the pocket is created in a different way, and the SmoothSilk® Ergonomix2® implant used is highly flexible and smooth. This allows it to be inserted through a minimal opening with the sleeve.
7. Can I also have a 3D Crisalix consultation for the Preservé?
Yes, this is definitely possible. Click here for all information about our Crisalix 3D simulation for breast augmentation.
8. Is the breast implant placed under or over the muscle, or in a dual plane during a Preservé breast augmentation?
In the Preservé™ technique, the breast implant is always placed in front of the muscle, not behind the muscle or in a dual plane. This is an important difference compared to traditional breast augmentations as we have known them until now.
This is made possible by the unique way the pocket is created: instead of cutting into the breast tissue and muscle, the tissue is gently stretched using a special Motiva® balloon. This keeps the breast muscle and supporting ligaments intact.
Because the breast muscle is preserved, there is much less—or even no—post-operative pain, and the recovery is significantly faster. Furthermore, the ligaments are stretched by the tissue expansion, creating a firm “nest” or “basket” around the implant. This provides stable support and prevents the implant from sagging prematurely.
9. What is the difference between Preservé™ and Mia Femtech®?
Mia Femtech® and Preservé™ are both minimally invasive techniques for breast augmentation, but they focus on different objectives and results.
Both methods offer a quick recovery, but Preservé™ offers more options: while Mia Femtech® typically increases the size by just one cup size, with Preservé™ you can choose almost any desired volume increase. Additionally, Preservé™ can also be combined with a breast lift, which is not possible with Mia. The technique also offers more precision when placing the implant, resulting in a more natural and harmonious outcome.
In short: Preservé™ can be seen as the successor to Mia Femtech®, with more extensive options and greater flexibility for the patient.
10. How long does a Preservé breast augmentation surgery take?
The surgery lasts about an hour, and you can usually go home 1.5 to 2 hours after the procedure.
Since this surgery is performed as a day surgery under general anesthesia, you are not allowed to drive yourself home and must arrange for an adult to accompany you and stay with you for 24 hours after the surgery.
11. Can the Preservé technique also be applied for a breast lift?
Yes, the Preservé™ mastopexy or Preservé™ breast lift is an innovative technique for breast enlargement combined with a breast lift, introduced in Belgium for the first time by plastic surgeon Dr. Nelissen.
The goal of Preservé™ is to preserve the natural appearance and shape of the breasts while lifting them. In this procedure, the breast tissue is carefully handled to maintain blood flow and sensation in the breast. This technique is often chosen by patients who want both breast augmentation and a breast lift, but who also value the preservation of the natural breast structure.
It can be an excellent option for women who have experienced aging, pregnancy, or weight loss, leading to breast sagging.
Would you like more information about this technique, or are you interested in how it is performed? Click here for more information about the breast lift.
12. How does the Preservé breast augmentation surgery proceed?
The breast augmentation is performed as a day procedure under sleep anesthesia, during which the pocket is first prepared with the utmost precision, without damaging the breast tissue. The “single use” Preservé instruments, the Inflatable Balloon, and the Chanel Separator are used for this. Then, the implant is placed through the small incision in the breast using the special “no touch” Insertion Sleeve.

13. Is the Preservé breast augmentation performed under local anesthesia, sedation, or general anesthesia?
With the Preservé™ breast augmentation, you can fully relax, as the procedure always takes place with us on a day surgery under general anesthesia.
Why not under local anesthesia or sedation?
Although we have extensive experience with surgeries under simple local anesthesia with sedation, we consciously choose general anesthesia for this type of procedure, which is our specialized (lighter) form of day surgery anesthesia. This ensures maximum comfort: you experience less nervousness and anxiety and can fully relax before, during, and after the procedure.
Since we have our own fully equipped surgical facilities and surgical team, the cost of this general anesthesia is already included in the price and is not charged additionally.
14. How much does a Preservé breast augmentation cost at Global Care Clinic Belgium?
€6300 all-in, which includes:
- General anesthesia and all costs related to the surgical facility
- Anesthetic medication
- “Single use” Preservé™ instruments
- Fees for the anesthetist and plastic surgeon Dr. Nelissen
- All postoperative check-ups
- High-quality breast implants
- 1 sports bra (valued at €85)
- 21% VAT (on aesthetic treatments)
- Extra service: mandatory registration of your breast implants and the prosthesis passport
- Preservé™ warranty program
15. How long do I need to recover from a Preservé breast augmentation? Why is my recovery faster compared to a classic breast augmentation?
What makes the Preservé™ technique innovative, compared to traditional breast augmentations, is the short recovery period, ideal for the active woman who cannot or does not want to take social or professional leave.
You can resume your daily activities the same day and start practicing sports after two to three weeks (6 weeks with traditional breast augmentation).
This method is particularly woman-friendly and respectful of existing breast tissue. The breast muscle and tissue remain intact because they are not cut, and thanks to the no-touch technique, much less pressure is applied to the nerves, muscles, skin, and breast tissue during the insertion of the breast implant.
16. What is included in the Preservé warranty program?
17. Are there fewer risks of complications with the Preservé breast augmentation?
The introduction of the Preservé™ technique is a major step forward in the safety of breast augmentations and breast implants: this modern method reduces the risk of complications and ensures a faster and more comfortable recovery.
Safety of Preservé™ breast augmentation
The Preservé™ method combines a less invasive surgical technique with advanced breast implants. The result is:
- less trauma to muscles and tissue,
- lower risk of complications like capsular contracture or hematomas,
- natural-looking and long-lasting results
In addition, the BluSeal® technology ensures the implants are completely intact before and during surgery, further increasing safety.
1. Less invasive technique
With the Preservé™ technique, the breast muscle and tissue remain intact; they are not cut but gently pushed aside using the special Preservé instruments. No excessive pressure is needed to insert the implant, thanks to the no-touch technique with the special sleeve.
Advantage: lower risk of bleeding (hematomas), leading to less post-surgery pain and faster recovery.
2. Smaller incision
Preservé™ uses a mini-incision of about 2.5 cm (depending on implant size) (compared to 4 cm or more with traditional breast augmentation using other implants).
Advantage: less scarring and less damage to surrounding tissue, resulting in less pain and faster recovery.
3. SmoothSilk®/SilkSurface® technology
These implants have a unique ultra-fine nano-surface that is smooth and even. This smooth texture reduces friction and inflammation, enhancing biocompatibility (=the implant’s ability to safely interact with living tissue without immune reactions, inflammation, or rejection) compared to other implants.
Advantage: less friction and inflammation, better biocompatibility, and a more natural result.
4. Lower risk of capsular contracture
Thanks to the minimally invasive surgical technique and the SmoothSilk® surface of the implants, the risk of capsular contracture is very low (0.5%).
Additional guarantees against capsular contracture (Baker III/IV) and implant rupture are provided, offering extra assurance.
5. Ergonomix2® geltechnology
The advanced gel in Motiva implants is designed to be soft and responsive, closely mimicking natural breast tissue. The cohesive silicone gel implant forms a single unit with the shell, preventing gel leakage if the implant ruptures.
Advantage: stable, predictable results with less risk of rippling and reduced risk of leakage.
6. BluSeal® safety barrier
This patented technology offers a visual, blue-tinted safety barrier on the implant. It serves as a crucial safety check to ensure the silicone barrier is intact and the implant is flawless before and during surgery.
Advantage: prevents gel leakage and guarantees implant integrity.
7. Lower risk of infections
A small incision, “single-use” instruments, “no-touch” sleeve, and sterile private clinic environment reduce the risk of infection.
Tip: stop smoking 4 weeks before and after the procedure to avoid increasing the risk of complications.
8. Safe, high-quality implants
Only A-brand Motiva implants with FDA approval and extensive clinical studies.
Strict quality controls and registration of each implant.
9. BIA-ALCL and BII
Very rare conditions like BIA-ALCL occur with textured implants, not with the smooth implants used here.
There is no scientific evidence to support that Breast Implant Illness (BII), which is not an officially recognized disease, is caused by breast implants.
10. Traceability and follow-up
Each implant is officially registered and comes with an implant dossier.
Some implants have a built-in chip for easy identification in case of complications.
Regular check-ups with MRI or ultrasound help detect ruptures or other issues early on.
11. Always choose an experienced plastic surgeon
While the technique and implants are essential for safety, the expertise of the surgeon is just as important. Always choose a certified plastic surgeon with extensive experience in breast augmentation with Motiva implants and the Preservé™ method with placement above the muscle.
