What is an ear correction?
An ear correction, also known as otoplasty, is a surgical procedure in which the shape, size, or position of the ears is adjusted.
The goal of an ear correction is to bring the ears into better balance with the rest of your face, contributing to a more natural and harmonious appearance.
An ear correction is a safe procedure, performed on a same-day admission basis under sedation with local anesthesia in our modern operating theater.

Facts about ear correction
What you definitely want to know about ear correction:
- 1500
- Treatment duration: 1hr
- Sedation and local anesthesia
- Home the same day (day procedure)
- 1-2 weeks downtime
- Discrete scar back of the ear
Why or when should you have an ear correction?
An ear correction can address various aesthetic concerns with the ears, including:
- Protruding ears ("lop ears") on one or both sides
- Overly large ears
- Torn earlobes or issues with stretchers
When considering an ear correction (otoplasty), it’s important to have realistic expectations. You can expect a significant improvement in the position of your ears, but not perfection or absolute symmetry. Additionally, there will be a scar behind the ear, which is usually discreet due to its location.
How does an ear correction surgery proceed?
During an ear correction surgery for protruding ears, the ear cartilage is adjusted to bring the ears closer to the head.
This process typically follows these steps:
- Incision: An incision is made in the fold behind the ear. This location helps ensure that scars are minimally visible after surgery.
- Cartilage adjustment: The ear cartilage is then molded or partially removed to reshape the ear into a new, less prominent form. This can involve folding, restructuring, or sometimes removing a small portion of the cartilage.
- Skin removal: Any excess skin left after positioning the ear closer to the head is removed to create a smooth and tight contour.
