Everyone has their own opinion about muscle relaxant injections and other anti-wrinkle treatments.
Because we often hear misconceptions about this, we’ll discuss the three most common misunderstandings about muscle relaxant anti-wrinkle injections.
Myth or Fact?
Myth 1: “A muscle relaxant injection is the same as a filler”
This is a common misconception because fillers and muscle relaxants work in completely different ways:
- A filler is used to fill in wrinkles or sunken areas. For example, think of the nasolabial fold or sunken cheeks.
- A muscle relaxant, on the other hand, relaxes the muscles, which in turn reduces the muscle movement that causes wrinkles. For example, crow’s feet when you smile or forehead lines when you’re surprised.
Myth 2: “A muscle relaxant injection always results in an emotionless expression”
It’s true that muscle relaxant injections can lead to an emotionless expression if too much is injected.
However, when the treatment is performed by an experienced plastic surgeon like Dr. Marc Nelissen, you can expect a natural, fresh expression while maintaining enough facial expression.
Even actresses trust us for their anti-wrinkle treatments.
Myth 3: “Muscle relaxant injections are addictive”
In theory, anything that makes you feel good can become addictive. If you’re satisfied with the result of a muscle relaxant injection, you may want to maintain that result. Since the effect wears off after 3 to 6 months, you might come back for another treatment.
However, there is no physical addiction to muscle relaxant injections.
Over time, you don’t need increasingly higher doses for the same result – in fact, the opposite is often true.
