Yes, breast lift-breast augmentation is a commonly performed combination surgery.

Scarring after a breast lift – what you should know:

• Scarring is inevitable: As with all surgical procedures, scarring will always occur, regardless of the technique.
• The size of the scar depends on the extent of your correction: Is it a large correction or a more minimal one? Dr. Nelissen will always discuss what to expect beforehand and will show you this with before-and-after photos.
• Preservé™ breast lift is less invasive: This technique minimizes scarring by preserving as much of the natural breast tissue as possible. The incisions are also smaller thanks to the unique Preservé instruments.
• Healing of scars: The scars from a breast lift fade over the first year and gradually take on the color of the surrounding skin. Until then, they can easily be hidden under a bra.
• Follow-up checks: Make sure to attend the prescribed follow-up appointments so that we can monitor abnormal scarring in a timely manner.

Pain after a breast lift:

• Pain immediately after the breast lift surgery: Thanks to the local anesthesia, patients wake up pain-free.
• Pain in the days following the surgery: The first few days may involve some stiffness and a pressure-like feeling, similar to muscle soreness. This can be effectively managed with painkillers.
• Follow the prescribed medication schedule carefully to prevent pain. We will also stay in touch to adjust the medication schedule based on your pain experience.
• Technique: Due to modern surgical techniques that minimize internal trauma and bleeding, patients experience much less pain than with traditional methods. The Preservé breast lift technique takes this a step further.

We are often asked whether sagging breasts can be corrected with larger breast implants. However, the answer is no, because the additional weight of the larger implants can actually cause the breasts to sag further.

What is possible, however, is that during a breast lift, we sometimes add extra volume to make the breasts appear nicely filled at the top (décolletage). This can be done with breast implants or, in some cases, through autofilling.

Yes, you can still breastfeed after a breast lift, using the surgical techniques we apply, including the Preservé™ breast lift technique, because this is a minimally invasive technique with maximum respect for breast tissue and milk glands, which remain as intact as possible.

After a breast lift, we recommend avoiding baths, not taking long or hot showers, and staying away from heat sources like the sauna.
