A few weeks ago, I underwent the miraDry treatment at the Global Care Clinic.
MiraDry, what exactly is that?
MiraDry is a treatment originally designed for hyperhidrosis patients (excessive sweating, especially under the armpits).
Over the years, it has been discovered that miraDry can also be used for patients who want more comfort in their daily lives and no longer wish to use harmful deodorants, etc.
I am one of these patients—I have never suffered from sweat or odor under my armpits, but the idea of comfort appealed to me.
The miraDry treatment itself goes smoothly and with minimal pain and pricks.
- First, the armpits are thoroughly disinfected, and a sweat test is performed to determine the areas where sweating is most intense.
- Based on this test, a template is selected, which is used to treat the entire armpit area.
- After disinfection, Dr. Nelissen numbs both armpits. You will feel a few pricks, and that’s all. The least pleasant part of the treatment is now over, and you are not far from sweat- and odor-free armpits 😊
- After the treatment, the armpits are disinfected again, and cooling packs are applied to provide relief and reduce swelling.
It is recommended to take Ibuprofen within 1 to 2 hours after the treatment, alternating with Paracetamol if necessary.
The only discomfort you may experience is the fading effect of the local anesthesia (a burning sensation) and swelling. The swelling and bruising can last for a few days to weeks, but the pain or burning sensation disappears.
It is possible that the swelling spreads to the arms or the side of the chest area. However, these side effects are insignificant compared to the difference this treatment makes in your daily life!
Furthermore, I would advise against engaging in strenuous physical activities such as vacuuming or shopping on the day of the treatment. Continued use of the cooling pack can help ease discomfort.
In the days following the treatment, swelling and bruising gradually decrease. Occasionally, you may feel tingling in the arms or shoulders, but this is not bothersome.
Immediately after the treatment, you will notice a significant difference—the armpits are already dry! 😊
A week and a half later, there is no longer any swelling or bruising, and you are permanently free from sweaty and smelly armpits! The feeling of comfort is incredible. Since the treatment, I haven’t used deodorant once and haven’t noticed any odor at all.
I would recommend the miraDry treatment to everyone.
