Why or when should you consider a breast reduction?

How does a breast reduction surgery proceed? Where will the scar be located?
During the breast reduction surgery, fat, glandular tissue, and excess skin are removed, making the breasts smaller, lighter, and better shaped.
The incision and scar for a breast reduction follow the classic anchor scar: around the areola, vertically downward, and horizontally in the breast fold. During the consultation, we also show pictures of the scars to provide a realistic view of the healing process.

Is a breast reduction reimbursed or covered by insurance?
In some cases, a breast reduction may be reimbursed by health insurance, depending on specific criteria. This applies, for example, when there is a medical indication, a high BMI, and/or when a minimum amount of breast tissue (in grams) needs to be removed. For a personal evaluation and advice on this matter, we recommend consulting a plastic surgeon working in a public hospital.
For purely aesthetic breast reductions, where the goal is solely to improve the appearance of the breasts, sometimes combined with a breast lift, reimbursement or coverage is not available.
